Sven Sachsalber, an Italian artist based in New York City, is well-known for his whimsical and one-of-a-kind conceptual art creations. His most recent show, which took place in the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, was a giant version of one of his past works, locate a needle in a haystack.

The museum’s president buried a single silver needle in a hay stack far taller than Sachsalber himself. He set himself a time limit of 24 hours to discover the needle by hand, and the entire event was shown on French television. Sachsalber’s approach was simple: take a little quantity of hay, fold it a couple of times, and bend it. He could feel the non-pliable needle if it was in that quantity.

Sachsalber found the needle with a few hours to spare after roughly 18 hours, much to everyone’s surprise. He sprung from his haystack position, yelling as he brandished the needle.

Sachsalber’s artworks are interesting, such as him sitting in a tree and chopping it apart while still in it, or recording himself eating toxic mushrooms in the woods. His tenacity and artistic talent are on display in his most recent exhibition.
